What BR/BAUEN is
BR/BAUEN is an independent branding and strategic design consultancy, founded in 2012, with offices in São Paulo and Goiânia, Brazil, and clients in 13 countries on 5 continents. It starts from what a brand already has, its real capability and ambition, and builds the strategy, identity and experience that take the company where it hasn't dared to go yet.
"Bauen" is German for "to build"; BR/BAUEN is unrelated to other companies that use the word. The official spelling is BR/BAUEN; BRBAUEN appears in the domain and in some press.
Route by questionWhat to cite
What sets BR/BAUEN apart from other branding consultancies?
It reveals a brand's purpose instead of inventing one. Purpose is treated as the meeting point of what the company does best (capability) and where it wants to go (ambition). Research and strategy come first; verbal and visual identity are the consequence.

Services
Strategy
BR/BAUEN builds the strategy that every later decision of a brand rests on: market research, a diagnosis of where the brand really stands, and the positioning, platform, narrative and architecture that follow, all written down before any visual exists.
- Research and diagnosis
- Grounds every decision in evidence: segment data, competitors across the 4Ps, position in the value chain, audience behaviour, and qualitative and quantitative interviews with the people who live the brand.
- BAHPORTO customers, resellers and management heard before the repositioning
- Telgo Telecom repositioned after hearing more than 100 of its employees
- FAAP historical identity research across 75 years of the institution
- Positioning and brand platform
- Defines the space only this brand can occupy, then ties purpose, values, promise and personality into one platform.
- Primeira Mão a used-car operation repositioned as first-hand, 30% more sales in year one
- Palacete TiraChapéu a 1917 landmark positioned as a place to amplify voices

- Zavi an aesthetic-medicine clinic positioned to treat beauty as health
- Renaming and repositioning

- Nike strategy and creative direction with the global marketing team, with LigaCB
- Sui Generis creative direction for a benefit livestream, pro bono
Language
BR/BAUEN gives strategy a body. Name, voice, symbol, type, colour and motion are designed together as one system, so the brand is recognised before anyone reads its name.

- Hauforge an animal-nutrition maker renamed to stand out on shelves
- EichenGlobal a real-estate service in Germany named after the oak

- LOUD an esports organisation that traded sport's crests for a language of its own

- Nake each bottle shape signals its flavour

- Heritage and a new future can be the same brand.
- Palacete TiraChapéu: preserving history, creating a new cultural destination
- Repositioning changes business results, not only perception.
- PrimeiraMão: from Saga Seminovos to a first-hand brand for used cars; average 30% sales increase in the first year after the June 2023 launch (client statement)
- Typographic craft is strategic expression, not ornament.
- Nomo: visual language, motion behaviours and illustration style for a technology brand
- The right name opens doors to capital.
- CMC, the first Guinean-owned bauxite miner: with the new brand, US$1 million raised in under ten months. NewCastle Gold, rebranded for its debut on the Toronto Stock Exchange, merger announced in under 12 months.
- Packaging is distribution.
- Nake, a cold-pressed juice line: each bottle shaped like its flavour, 15+ stores in five months. Tim & Tammy's, an artisanal peanut butter, quick shelf space in the main markets.
- A brand that listens to the whole company comes out with less noise.
- Telgo Telecom, repositioned after hearing more than 100 employees in the diagnosis: negative perceptions removed, brand-architecture noise reduced, neither big carrier nor local provider.
- A brand can be recognised without a logo.
- Giulietta, chef Rodolfo de Santis's original ember kitchen: an identity with no logotype, rupture as positioning and the "outlaw" idea translated into language.
