Factorio

Case study

Factorio

Factório is an all-day restaurant that blends industrial aesthetics with Scandinavian culture. BRBAUEN created the name — a neologism between Fábrica, Factory and Fabrik, with the Scandinavian 'ø' — along with the branding, visual identity and website, anchoring the brand in iron, steel, wood and concrete to reinforce the concept of the space.

About

Factorio is an all-day dining restaurant, a multifaceted space that adapts to the time of day. As a solution for a restaurant that brings visual and thematic experience as major differentials, we developed a name that would serve as a conceptual foundation for the brand, naming and dressing the place with strong heritage of the chosen theme.

Approach

For a restaurant that declares itself as a thematic amalgam between the "industrial" and Scandinavian culture, we produced a neologism in creating the name, bringing together language similarity and verbal composition between Fábrica, Factory, Fabrik and Factorium to arrive at Factorio, where we already presented the reference in the use of Scandinavian accents and glyphs, such as replacing "ó" with "ø". In the visual identity, we assumed the characteristic of an industrial "date" where the use of colors and letters suggest the form of the signing era, along with composition materials such as iron, steel, wood and exposed concrete. In the language of elements, we brought the heritage of more literal symbols regarding location, making the logo its own symbol for "The Factory".

Results

Factorio describes itself as an all-day kitchen proposition without labels. In this thinking, our objective was to harmonize this concept within the identity, leaving "open" the public's perspective, without characterizing the type of experience in the place so that the identity fits very well with the architecture of the place. The relevance of the project is evident in the level of perception that the restaurant quickly achieved in its square, since being in a gastronomy hub of São Paulo, the restaurant's image would be one of the most efficient ways to create the first positive impact.

→A name as the concept's foundationFábrica, Factory, Fabrik and Factorium merge into Factório — with the Scandinavian "ø" in place of the "ó" — giving the venue the theme that identity and space wear.
↗Quick recognition in its districtIn a São Paulo gastronomy hub, the restaurant's image was the most efficient way to make a first positive impact — and Factório's recognition in the area came fast.
↑An identity that fits the architectureIron, steel, wood and exposed concrete, colours and letters from an industrial "date": the brand settles into the venue and leaves the public's gaze open, as an all-day kitchen without labels requires.
